The 2012 AAU Beach Volleyball Player of the Year is Zana Muno from Hermosa Beach, California! She earned the first “Triple Crown” award of beach volleyball by winning ALL three AAU major beach volleyball events in 2012. What’s even more impressive is that these three wins came with three different partners. She earned the first gold medal in the AAU National Championships in her hometown of Hermosa Beach with partner Sydney Bast. She followed that with a win at the West Coast AAU Junior Olympic Games with Raeanne Greisen. The win that secured the Triple Crown victory was the AAU Best of the Beach presented by Kauai Bikini in Santa Monica, California with partner Gianna Guinasso.
Muno also won the gold medal at the 2011 AAU Junior Olympic Games in New Orleans with former AAU Player of the Year, London Chow.
She is a member of the Los Angeles ICG Beach Elite team in the AAU/USA Junior Beach Volleyball Elite Power League.
Her talent stretched beyond the sand when she traveled to Lanarkshire, Scotland as a part of the AAU/USA team to represent the Los Angeles ICG in the 2011 International Children’s Games.
Her travels will extend past Scotland. After winning the NORCECA qualifier representing the USA, she will have the opportunity to compete in the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China this summer.
Zana Muno has committed to play both Indoor and Sand Volleyball at UCLA.
Congratulations to Zana Muno from everyone at the AAU! Good luck in all your future endeavors and we can’t wait to see where your talent leads you!
