Viola Greenwood wins 2015 AAU Golf National Championship

After a slow start to the 2015 Golf season, Viola Greenwood finished strong winning her last 6 tournaments of the year.

Starting with the Women’s State Amateur Flighted Division at Chattanooga Golf & Country Club, Viola defeated 10-time Tennessee State Champion Maggie Scott in the finals 3-1. Next was two Upper Cumberland Junior tournaments followed by the Upper Cumberland Ladies Amateur where Viola shot even-par 144 to win by six strokes over former Tennessee Tech University team captain, Megan Myers from Murfreesboro. Then came the Sneds Tour win at White Plains where Viola shot a career-best score of 3-under par 69.

The final tournament of the season, Viola called her biggest was … The AAU National Championship in Millington, TN where Viola defeated Madison Chaney, a University of Evansville collegiate pledge in the semi-final 4-2. In the finals. Viola won over Megan Tang from Taiwan by a score of 3-1. Viola is the 2015 girls AAU National Champion and has plans to return to the 2016 AAU National Championship to defend her title. 

Viola Greenwood is a 16-year old home schooled with Daniel 1 Academy in Cookeville, TN. She has been playing golf for only five years and already has won over 30 Golf Tournaments. Her father Bobby Greenwood played 7 years on the PGA Tour Player, and is a member of the Tennessee Golf Hall of Fame.
